The aim of this paper is to examine and assess the principal international economic organizations (IEO's) based in Africa. To reach a deeper understanding of the challenges and potentials of development on the continent, this paper analyses how, and under what conditions, African IEO's have evolved, and what individual and collective contributions, if any, these African IEO's have had on Africa's socioeconomic development.
