Consejo Latinoamericano de Ciencias Sociales (CLACSO - Latin American Social Sciences Council)

Description CLACSO aims to rethink, from a critical and pluralist perspective, the problems of Latin-American and Caribbean societies. It promotes research and human capital formation and the strengthening of cooperation between individuals and research institutions.

CLACSO recognizes that the so-called Washington Consensus has significant limits when it comes to addressing the problems of poverty and inequality, and that trickle down theory does not function as properly intended. The CLACSO working group stresses the importance of the role of the state and of public intervention in building a more equal society.
