Gilberto Libanio Gilberto Libanio was born in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. He has received a B.A. in economics from Federal University of Minas Gerais, Brazil (1994), a M.A. in economics from Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (1998), and a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Notre Dame, USA (2006). Gilberto Libanio works as a professor of economics at Federal University of Minas Gerais (since 1998). His main areas of interest are macroeconomics, central banking, growth theory and international finance, with a regional focus on Latin America. He has been awarded grants and fellowships from the Kellogg Institute for International Studies, the University of Notre Dame, and National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq, Brazil), among others. Gilberto Libanio has published journal articles, chapters of books and book reviews in Brazil, UK and the USA.
