K. Narayanan obtained his Ph.D. in Economics from the Delhi School of Economics, Delhi India in 2000, and carried out postdoctoral research at the Institute of Advanced Studies, United Nations University, Tokyo, Japan (2000–01). He was a Ph.D. intern at the Institute of New Technologies, United Nations University, in Maastricht, The Netherlands, in 1996, and also participated in the Cambridge Advanced Programme on Rethinking Development Economics in 2002. His research interests span the areas of industrial economics, economics of technological change, environmental economics, and development economics. His publications include research papers in internationally and nationally refereed journals, chapters in books, working papers and an edited book on Indian ndustrialization. He is actively involved in India's National Communication to UNFCCC. His career in teaching economics began at Kirorimal College, Delhi University. He is currently Associate Professor of Economics in the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay.
