Horácio Lucas Zandamela obtained a doctoral degree from the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) Graduate School of Public and Development Management in Johannesburg, South Africa. His doctoral thesis is entitled "The Impact of Credit on Rural Development in Mozambique." Mr. Zandamela obtained a Master's degree in Public Administration and Management from the same University in 1999. Previously, he received a degree in Forestry (Honours equivalent) in 1998 from Eduardo Mondlane University in Maputo, Mozambique.
In the process of his research, Mr. Zandamela has been exposed to many development issues that now constitute the core of his research interests: micro-credit and small business development, rural development, local economic development, local government, urban and rural water provisioning, gender, natural disaster management, HIV/AIDS, curriculum development, development training and electoral monitoring.
