Zahra Karimi is an Assistant Professor at the University of Mazandaran (Iran). She is specialized in labor markets in developing countries, institutional economics, and gender and economics. Publications include "Macroeconomic Changes and the World of Work: Gender and Institutional Perspectives: The Case of Iran," a GEM-IWG Working Paper; "The Share of Women in Iran's Labour Market" in Political and Economic Ettela-at; "The Effects of Afghan Civil War on Iran's Labour Market" in Journal of Allameh University Economic Research; "The Impediments to Implementation of Employment Policies in Iran" in Political and Economic Ettela-at; and "Iran's Labour Market Institutions and Transaction Costs" in Political and Economic Ettela-at.

Dr. Karimi is a member of the Knowledge Networking and Capacity Building on Gender, Macroeconomics, and International Economics Program (GEM-IWG) and the Middle East Economic Association (MEEA). She received her Ph.D. in economics from an Iranian state university, and her current research is focused on the effects of international trade and employment and employment guarantee schemes.
