Liem Giok In is the author of Interdependent Economy: From Political Economy to Spiritual Economy. She received her Master's Degree in economics from the University of St. Gallen (Switzerland) in 1974. Ms. Liem has also pursued Buddhist studies since 1974 at the Center of Higher Tibetan Studies (Mt. Pelerin, Switzerland) under the guidance of Geshe Rabten Rinpoche and Gonsar Rinpoche.

Ms. Liem served as Project Manager from 1996 to 2000 at a Dutch policy-influencing NGO that focuses on gender and international cooperation. She worked first as Editor-in-Chief of its quarterly magazine, Connections, and later developed and implemented a project on "Economic Empowerment of Women" with two local partners in Zimbabwe and the Caribbean region.

She is also the founder and director of MAid, MAnagement projects of individual empowerment and democratic development. The organization develops and implements policy-influencing projects based on Ms. Liem's views of Interdependent Economy.
