Moritz Alberto Cruz was awarded his PhD in Economics at the University of Manchester in 2004. Previously he received an MSc in Economics at Mexico’s National University (UNAM). Since 2005 he has been with the Institute for Economic Research (UNAM) as a Researcher and he also supports the faculty of economics as Lecturer in its master and doctoral programmes, teaching mainly macroeconomics and development economics courses. Alberto's main fields of interest are macroeconomics and development economics. His recent work has focused on the impact of trade and financial liberalisation on growth and development. He has also developed some studies on the impact of private remittances on growth and the role of international reserves accumulation as a source of financial stability.
