Sheila Oviedo joined the GPI Global Internship for fall 2008. She is an M.S. candidate at the New School University's Graduate Program in International Affairs, concentrating on security and development. Prior to pursuing graduate studies, she worked as a Singapore-based Asia-Pacific analyst at an international emergency assistance company. A Philippine national, Sheila has also worked as a policy analyst in the National Security Council of the Philippines, and as a reporter and contributor for various local and international media in Manila. She has an M.A. in international relations and strategic studies from Lancaster University in the United Kingdom, and a B.A. in journalism from the University of the Philippines. She recently served as a research intern at the International Peace Institute in New York, where she coauthored a study on the feasibility of standards implementation and enforcement in the private security industry.
