Olafur Ragnar Grimsson

Olafur Ragnar Grimsson is the current president of Iceland. He was first elected in 1996, then reelected in 2000, reelected for a third term in 2004, and reelected unopposed for a fourth term in 2008.
Prior to his presidency, Grimsson was a professor of political science at the University of Iceland, served as a member of the Icelandic legislature, was minister of finance (1988–1991), and served as chairman of the left People's Alliance (1987–1995).
