Anjanette DeCarlo is currently a Ph.D. candidate in natural resources at the University of Vermont. Her focus is on human rights, democracy, and development as a merged agenda for sustainability. She currently is working on reconciliation in post-war countries as well as the power of trade and commerce to create peace in conflict zones. As a development consultant she specializes in Africa and Latin America. Anjanette received her M.A. in geography from Hunter College in 1999 and her B.S. in environmental science from the State University of New York. She was awarded the E. F. Schumacher scholarship to study holistic science at the Schumacher Institute as well as the Irene P. Goldring science award.

As project lead of a USAID award on higher education, participatory processes, and integrated watershed management in Mexico, Anjanette successfully lead an international team that carried out stakeholder ateliers, something never done before in the La Antigua. The white book produced for this project is being highlighted by USAID and presented to key senators on Capitol Hill.

Prior to her Ph.D. studies, Anjanette was the program coordinator at the Gund Institute for Ecological Economics. With a successful track record raising millions of dollars, Anjanette reaches the donor community at all levels from small gifts to large grants and contracts. Her emphasis for developing programs at Gund, was to bridge the gap between academia and the needs of people on the ground. Anjanette has also worked for other organizations such as the Natural Resources Defense Council and the United Nations. She has made regular TV and radio appearances, has appeared in print media, and lectures regularly on environmental issues.
