Founder and Chief Executive
Jesper Toft is founder and chief executive of the Global Currency Union. He has an eighteen-year history of success in fostering start-up companies in a wide variety of technologies. Among the firms Toft founded was ITCOM A/S in 1997, notable for offering the first free Internet telephone number directory service in the world, together with a series of other services all branded under the "909" name, including Denmark's largest free e-mail service and a credit information system. These activities were later sold to a NASDAQ-listed company.
Subsequently Toft built the price-comparison site for IT products in Denmark known as Edbpriser, integrating an automatic price-retrieval system for all Danish resellers actively selling online. In 2000, this service was elected by Danish users of the Internet as the best service online. Edbpriser was sold to private investors, and is today owned and operated by a leading Scandinavian media group.
Over the past ten years, Toft has specialized in bringing to market new technologies and approaches in the online, energy, and nanotechnology sectors.
In 2000, Toft was recognized as one of Denmark's leading entrepreneurs as founder of OIBN A/S (the Open Integrated Business Network), for which he received the Pioneer Award from the Danish Department of Commerce and Department of Research.
