Jonathan Cristol

Jonathan Cristol is Visiting Assistant Professor of Political Studies at Bard College in Annandale, NY, and the Director of Bard College's Globalization and International Affairs Summer Program in New York City. At Bard he teaches courses including: Introduction to International Relations, Advanced International Relations Theory, America and the Modern Middle East, and The Nature of Power, a joint seminar with the United States Military Academy at West Point.

Prior to his employment at Bard in 2003, Cristol served as an analyst of Middle Eastern politics for the Intellibridge Corporation and taught at Rutgers University-New Brunswick.

Cristol is the recipient of numerous awards including a Foreign Language and Area Studies Fellowship; a Mellon Grant for Curricular Development; an Overseas Research Scholarship; and a Postgraduate Research Scholarship from the University of Bristol (UK). He speaks frequently on issues relating to diplomatic recognition, international relations theory, and the Middle East. Cristol holds degrees from Bard College (B.A. Political Studies) and Yale University (M.A. International Relations). He is a doctoral candidate in politics at the University of Bristol.
