Prior to joining the Foundation, Mr. Snyder was an Asia specialist in the Research and Studies Program of the U.S. Institute of Peace. In 1999, he was a recipient of the Abe Fellowship, a research fellowship administered by the Social Sciences Research Council. Mr. Snyder also previously served as acting director of the Contemporary Affairs Department of The Asia Society.
Mr. Snyder has published numerous op-ed pieces and journal articles and is a frequent commentator on Asian security issues with a particular focus on the Korean peninsula. His book, Negotiating on the Edge: North Korean Negotiating Behavior, was published by the United States Institute of Peace (USIP) Press in 1999. His publications include Paved With Good Intentions: The NGO Experience in North Korea, coedited by L. Gordon Flake.
