Sean Sweeney

Sean Sweeney is director of the Cornell Global Labor Institute, a program of the Cornell School of Industrial and Labor Relations based in New York City. He is the former director of labor studies for Cornell's Metropolitan District Office, and has been a labor educator with the City University of New York and with the UAW's program with Hofstra University.

Sweeney earned his doctorate degree in international labor from the University of Bath, England, in 1990. He is a former youth officer of the British Labour Party and a member of the British footwear workers union, NUFLAT. He writes regularly for New Labor Forum and other labor publications, and is coauthor of UNEP's global green jobs report (September 2008).
