Shashi Tharoor is an author, journalist, and former UN official. Tharoor served as the UN Under-Secretary-General for Communications and Public Information between June 2002 and February 2007. He was the official candidate of India for succession to Kofi Annan as United Nations Secretary-General in 2006.
